About Us

Krewes for Karnival’s First Responders was founded in 2012 as a way for carnival krewes to give back and to support our First Responders who keep the parade route safe and fun for our families, riders, and tourists. To date, Krewes for Karnival has raised over $700,000 for New Orleans first responders and we are continuing the effort in 2026. Over the past 14 years, Krewes for Karnival has purchased fluorescent safety vests, a Firing Arms Simulator, blue tooth communicators, ballistic helmets, vests, Kevlar, carbon monoxide detectors, EMS bicycles, surveillance equipment/cameras and much, much more. Krewes for Karnival’s success is owed to the work and support of all the parading Mardi Gras krewes. Each year, krewes unite and generously donate through sponsorships, food donations, and auction items.
